Firstly let’s be honest, it is sometimes difficult to maintain a few of these habits in our own lives such as reading our Bible everyday or even not praying and thinking tomorrow is another day. Have faith, we all have those moments, don’t be discouraged. Here are a few tips in how to develop faith skills in our teens.
It’s not always an easy sell sharing and talking about God to our teens. It takes courage as we are competing with the latest video games, what’s showing on any streaming channel and don’t forget about the friends.

What can we do to create the space for our teenagers to grow in their faith
Firstly, model it. There’s a greater chance of your teenagers stepping up in faith if they see you reading the Bible, worshipping and praying. Do show up and let your teenagers know how your faith has helped in your life. Explain how your life models living in faith every day even if you might skip a day or two in reading the Bible.
Give your teenager a resource that makes sense to them. As a teenager the Bible might be a daunting book, think of sharing a devotional that is age appropriate that they would love to read that would keep them focused and engaged.
Partner with your Teens Ministry in this instance Gems or Impact. Take note what plan is currently being followed and jump on board with that. There is power when Churches and families get on the same page.
Encourage, don’t push too hard. Our teenagers respond to our encouragement more than our pressure.
Prayer is going to be your go to in this season in your life. Your best move is going to be putting your teenager before God as an urgent request.
Be ready for those moments when your teenager is ready to open up. When they happen, cherish them and engage even if you are on your way to bed.
